It has the extra piece of leather joining the rolled edges so there is no ridge on the inside to irritate the dog's neck which a lot of other rolled collars have. I took off a star because the sizing is not standard and the product description does not specify how to measure your dog's neck to ensure a good fit.
Based on answers from other buyers to my question about sizing, I added 2" to my dog's neck size of 18" measured with two fingers under the measuring tape and ordered a 20" collar. It is too small for my dog, even on the last hole. Medium 12" Length Verified Purchase. I ordered the 12" for my smaller sheltie, she is 15 lbs, it is on the last buckle notch, with thicker neck fur that mats easily so I wanted something thinner than what I had on her.
She doesn't like stuff around her neck, and tries to shake off collars. I put this one on when it arrived and for the rest of the day, no shaking or pawing at the collar, so I think I found one that she can tolerate better, phew. Shelties can slip collars so you gotta get one that won't.
I think this will be fine, it gets under the fur mass and that is the goal. It is a bit stiffer than I thought it would be. X-Large 18" Length Verified Purchase. I looked around for nice, durable-feeling leather collars and couldn't even find any that seemed well made and didn't look cheesy studs and sparkles. I ordered this one and was pleasantly surprised at how very well made it feels. It has a nice "classic" look to it and the stitching and buckles feel solid. My only gripe was the collar depicted in the pictures is not quite accurate.
The pictured collar looks more beige than it is, it's definitely more of a tan color. I would have loved the beige look, but the tan is nice as well. It does say "tan" in the description, so I can't mark down for that. It also allows for some great conversation! Ask many questions while cooking with your children to encourage conversation!
Be sure to ask specific themed questions while making these fun snacks! As you all share snack, talk about the crackers and how they would take care of them if they were pets. What would a lion need? Where would they sleep? What do they eat? Provide stuffed animals, bandages, doctor kits, large white shirts for doctor coats , clipboards and crayons. If you have a large appliance box, let the children help you decorate it and turn it into a pet house. Provide stuffed animals and use this inside or outside! The children can take their pets for walks, runs, etc.
There are 2 tracks about Animal Actions. The kids would play this every day at Circle Time, Gross Motor Time or just as a great transition throughout the day! I highly recommend it! The overall stay was good! Woke me up a few times! I would not stay there again. The shower did not work. When I tried to communicate this to the desk person I could not reach anyone.
