Self-pity is comforting, but rarely actionable. Struck most by When I saw that David Goggins had just released a book I immediately went to take a look. I enjoy books written by and from the perspective of elite soldiers and really by top performers in any fields because they tend to share a similar set of qualities and lessons.

Additionally, I understand why the 'challenges' are in the book - it's definitely going to help Goggins build a brand and it makes it really easy for people to skip through the story to get to the actionable self help steps of this book. That being said, this story is incredible. David Goggins is truly inspirational I could have done without the in-between chapter commentary that came with the audiobook, the relaxed nature of those conversations took away from the seriousness of the actual book.

About I week before I learned of him I signed up to run my first marathon that I was going to actually train for did 2 before with no training and wanted to run a sub 3hr. This guy is insane on a mental dexterity level. I love the way Goggins takes you from the bottom of his life to the peak of his accomplishments, yet the underlying theme of his story, and life, is that there is never a finish line.
