I was not, however, in any way asked or obligated to leave a review; I am doing so because I sincerely enjoyed the book. Once again, Will Wight has delivered a fantastic novel. His dedication to his craft shows, much as Lindon's own dedication finally is leading to some significant progress in this book.
I won't spoil any details, but for those of you who have been eagerly waiting for Lindon to get more powerful Beyond that, Eithan is always a delight, his casual exterior a brilliant obfuscation for his continuous manipulation of both friends and foes to his whims. Yerin has always been my favorite character in this series, and I'm pleased that she gets more character progression of her own here with a bit of a side-arc. Not enough to derail the main plot, but we get some more intriguing hints about her background here.
I haven't been a big fan of Suriel in the past, but I'll say that Suriel's part in this book is the most interesting it's ever been, and I'm sincerely interested in seeing where that plot goes in the future. There are some epic fight scenes, but anyone who has read Will's book before knows to expect those. There are a lot of fight scenes - as well as training scenes - and I loved that.

There was more learning how the magic system works, too, more explanations about the Blackflame empire and the wider world More of everything I wanted to see, really. I'll be looking forward to Book 4. I almost never give five star reviews. Look up my history if you don't believe me. This book passes muster and earns the fifth star.
I just finished the third book. Two thoughts come to mind. How the heck can someone be so creative and expressive? How the heck can he write such greatness so fast? Wight is a rare talent and I feel lucky to have discovered his works. As always, if you liked the first two this one won't disappoint. If you are new to the author I've been reading Will Wight since Travelers Gate, and it has been a joy to see the improvements in his prose.
That being said, this book had me on the edge of my seat all day, and I finished it in one sitting instead of studying for finals. So don't pick it up if you have something that needs to be done today. One of the best series I've read. Will's world building continues to blow me away and create a disturbing addiction to his stories I can't imagine ending anytime soon. Normally, I hold back on the five star review unless I'm absolutely blown away. While this book is heavy on development and light on the action till the end, it still manages to make you sit on the edge reading till the long hours of the night just to see what happens next.
Its rare nowadays for me to find a book that has this kind of pull, but this one definitely manages to keep me guessing. I especially like how the book ends, as one fear for all would-be-hero stories is the plateau effect and its nice to see things will continue to develop without reaching god-like proportions yet? Honestly, if you like a hero with creative thoughts and humble attitude, give this book a shot and you'll be pleased you did.
My one and only request for the next would be to see Eithan or someone finally break Lindon of his "This one There is only so much humble pie to go around. I started Unsouled at the beginning of the week, and I got bitterly disappointed when I finished Blackflame and realised that Skysworn was still in progress.
This story is great, skillfully woven together, with engaging main characters. I love the way that Lindon and Yerin interact Lindon's continues to advance, but the nebulous threat he's training for seems to be far from everyone's sight. The Abidan Judge issues are also skillfully woven into the main narrative of Lindon and Yerin. Can't wait to see where this goes next!

Another masterpiece by Will. I highly and utterly recommend it to any lover of fantasy. It's got a heavy martial arts influence, and it shines in terms of story, creativity, and legibility.
