I don't want my views on it to be tainted because of this. I'm not exactly the number 1 believer of god Stand in the Rain is similar to Beauty from Pain, just without the word "God" in it, basically. Flag jazzy on August 11, General Comment to be honest, I agree with dark-julie, and I think that's partly because of their other song 'courage'.
I can see it could be general, and it has some useful messages for everyone, and could even be indirectly linked to the principles of religion, but there are parts of it that scream eating disorder to me. I really relate to it, and I love the last chorus with the almost scream in the background, ironically I'll often listen to it and end up crying at the point when its "and she fears if she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down". General Comment For me, this song represents my struggles with bipolar disorder and all the other obstacles that it has brought with it.
I really love this song. My Opinion Okay most people would not expect me to struggle with depression but I do and thus the song speaks to me alot. This song talks about our inward struggle with the cost of our outward facade. Many people including me attempt to hid our problems and the when we finally want to reveal them we struggle to let the world know we hurt. In all reality each one of us has these problems so if we 'stand in the rain' we become one with a group of people who all have issues some more pronounced and serous than others but they exist and if you let people know then we can let everyone support each other.
Sometimes the broken, painful things we go through seem impossible and hopeless. But avoiding storms in life does nothing but postpone the inevitable. We do have to allow ourselves time to stand in the middle of it, face the storm, and believe that it will pass. Sometimes to just be the friend holding their hand through it, holding out our umbrella of hope when theirs is broken and tattered, is all we can do. I would sit listening to it with tears running down my cheeks and thank God for all those who held their umbrellas over me during the storm!
I know that if I hold it in too long then one day ill just blow which could very easily be bad. General Comment ilove it.. Log in now to add this track to your mixtape!
