I like this series. This book started out a bit slow. It takes a long time to establish the story and the characters. It picks up the pace when they start getting into the mystery aspect. It was a nice love story, with an unexpected twist thrown in at the end. His death was sadly caused by murder, and his demise left his stepdaughter, Corri, alone. Alongside her Aunt August, boyfriend Nick and little Corri, Indiana must determine whether to return to Devlin permanently or to continue her life of solitude and long working hours in Paloma. Not a big fan of mystery, which is why I gave the book 3 stars out of 5. Not anything wrong with the book, I'm just not a fan of the genre. Sep 24, Donna rated it liked it. As India searches for her brother's killer, she falls in love with her brother's best friend, Nick.
Her family wants her to move back home to help raise Corri, her brother's adopted child, but she fights to keep her life in both the city and the beach. As she grows to love Corridor, as well as Nick, India realizes that all her answers lie near the place she grew up. Sep 23, Kshydog rated it liked it. Two families that are almost unbelievable in their being nice to each other, their love of their community. It was nice reading about them, their love for life at an ocean bay shore.
Adding the mystery of her brother's murder added to the story and the resulting ending was good. Nick was such a wonderful guy and even India's drive to help people was inspiring.

More a story about loving being together than sexy read. Liked the aunt August with her quotes about life with recipes included. The story of such a devoted and headstrong young woman who has to find time in her life for her niece who has seen to much death in her life is touching. I liked this book, it goes from a mystery to a love story and then back to some more intrigue.
Only bad portion, right before the end of the book, I was like goodness this is long and there has not been anymore excitment and then all the sudden it is over. I will definately read more of Mariah Stewart. May 18, Anneka rated it liked it. Not as good as some of her others, but still very intricate and thorough characters. And you can't help but fall in love with Corri and hope that everyone will make good decisions. I was cautious about all "good" characters from the beginning, but they were good and I could have lived them more if I had trusted that.
Only bad characters showed themselves for how bad they could really be Aug 03, Alyssa added it. This book was a little slow to get into. I patiently kept reading and was rewarded by a good story.
Romantic Suspense
There is a lot about the area that made the story slower at times but the characters and mystery made up for it. This a good read but remember to plan time to get through the slower chapters. I was kind of expecting a murder mystery with some romance thrown in Idk, just not for me.
Mar 04, SJuhl4 rated it really liked it Shelves: While I expected more thriller than romance, it was still a good book. I kept expecting more on the murder and less on every day events, but that just didn't happen. A good read if you want a romance with a little murder tossed in on the side. But if your looking for a thriller - this isn't it. Feb 02, Pamela rated it really liked it.

My favorite was Corri. Hopefully the next book is better. Feb 25, Scoozer rated it it was ok Shelves: This book was terrible. I read it for the State challenge and was glad to finish. I would not have finished if it were not for the challenge. It was poorly written and plotted. Exactly what I look for in a romantic suspense.
