The main idea is for Jack and Annie go back in time to the 11th century where there are knights and castles. They are searching for what the letter m is all about and they try to sneak in a castle and hide. They run away and find a secret pathway. Jack jumps into the water and the knight helps them escape. The letter M is not discovered by the end of this book. Jack is the older brother and he is more resourceful and she is outgoing. I would recommend this book for people that like adventure books. One thing that i really like about this book is that it is adventure and magical book which is my favorite type of book. I also really like the story line and how everything happens a certain way. Its suspenseful because u don't really know whats about to happen.

My favorite part is when Jack and Anny go sneaking around the castle of the nights of the round table. Oct 11, Martha rated it liked it. Again, rated for my 5 year old But it seems to captivate him, so bravo on that. I find myself changing sentences and making fragments into sentences while I read because they just don't flow well. I know this book is meant for an early reader to read themselves, but he doesn't quite read yet and we are reading this series to him on recommendation.

I like the idea behind it and the little guy likes the adventure, but the writing is BAD. But, be Again, rated for my 5 year old But, beside the bad writing in this one, you have a boring plot that really doesn't involve doing much other than creeping into a castle and peeking in doorways.

And it bugs me that they never really give the definition of precipice. As an adult, I can figure it out from the situation Apr 16, Kim rated it liked it Shelves: Overall, this was a quick read. I loved the fact that this series is an ongoing mystery. Each book has a clue that leads to something significant. The stories keep getting better, but I love them equally. My favourite part was when the kids were trying to escape the castle after they got caught. The whole time I was skimming the book and I still understood what happened. I agree with what I said in my review about the first book of the series.

My elementary self would loved, but Overall, this was a quick read. My elementary self would loved, but as of now, it was okay. Although, it did bring nostalgia to me as I was reading this book and possibly continuing the series. This is the first Magic Tree House book I have read we skipped the first but will go back and read it.

I love being able to ask my son what he thought would happen to Jack and Annie on their adventure. Our favorite part was when Annie was quick thinking enough to use her flashlight as a magic wand. My son enjoyed it so much he wanted to get the 3rd as soon as we closed the cover on the second. I'm so excited to be reading th Santa brought this book to my 6 year old son for us to read together.

I'm so excited to be reading these books to help develop a love of reading in my son. Sep 11, Norma Torres rated it liked it. The Knight at Dawn is fantasy. I gave it three stars because sometimes, I don't like it because they're talked about the knight at dawn, it sound like so quite, bored and dark but my favorite part is three huge men, one with very squinty eyes held the torch. One with a very red face held Jack. And one with very long mustache held on to Annie because I think it's funny when the one with the very red face said, ''Who art thou? Annie said, no, you dummies!

But some of them is bored. Feb 04, Anna rated it really liked it Shelves: I stole this from my public library. A long time ago I checked this book out for some AR points, yeah this was a long time ago. Once the checkout time arrived, I had literally no idea where it went. I just found it. Eventually my mom just bought the book from the library, since my attempts of searching were no good.

Most of my childhood was imagining what it would be like if I had a teleported tree house. Nov 01, Kiefer Hwasta rated it really liked it. It is a sequel to Magic Tree House: The same children, Jack and Annie, go into the treehouse and look at a book about a medieval Scottish castle and find themselves in the same sort of situation as last time. I think it was as good as the last one, except this time it is people, not dinosaurs that are the enemies. I learned a bit about history. It is now late night of the day that eight-year-old Jack and his sister, seven-year-old Annie, happened upon a tree house that transported them to the age of dinosaurs. Back safe at home, neither of them can sleep.

Did they actually travel through time? Could they do so again, maybe to a different time and place, by picking up another book in the tree house and wishing out loud they were there? As dawn nears, Jack and Annie realize they're not going to get any rest unti Frog Creek, Pennsylvania: As dawn nears, Jack and Annie realize they're not going to get any rest until some questions are answered.

Grabbing a flashlight and Jack's backpack, they sneak out to the tree house, hoping to find the person who lives there. No one is inside, and Annie can't resist picking up a book about knights and castles. Against Jack's protest, she wishes they were at the castle, and the tree house spirits them away. Dashing through the castle, Jack and Annie rely on his smarts and her temerity to remain free. Jack brought along the book that transported them to this bygone era, and it offers valuable information about the castle. If they can find a hidden passageway and get outside before their would-be captors catch up to them, they can return to their own time. They might need a little extra help for that to happen, but fortunately a helper is waiting outside the castle, if the two modern-day kids can complete their escape.

It might be even better than that previous story. The chase through the castle is suspenseful, and we learn a lot about the place while Jack and Annie move from room to room. As in the first book, their abilities complement each other's well. What would have happened if Annie hadn't concocted a bold gambit to get them out of the dungeon before they were locked away? What if Jack hadn't been there to remind his sister that studying the book was key to finding a way out of the castle without being detected? The adventure wouldn't have happened without Annie's curiosity and bravado, but it wouldn't have ended well without Jack's thoughtful approach.

I like this series; the sporadic clues to the identity of the tree house's owner keep us coming back for more, and so do the fun adventures. I'll see you next for book three, Mummies in the Morning.
