No I'm sorry I stopped at part two, a reader can take that much! Yes the issues of domestic violence are important and not to be dismissed but there needs to be more imagination to the story.

Against The Darkest Shadow

As much as I respect this author's work and the story idea I did not feel like reading repetition of the same theme. If that wasn't for the previous books this book would have gotten less then 3 stars. May 19, Susan Freestone rated it it was amazing. Perfect ending I went through so many emotions reading this third and final book in the series.

I enjoyed this series from the start of book 1 and it held me till the end of this book. I felt for Lizzie cupcake in this story and had a few tears along the way. The end was perfect and I was so pleased.

This is my sixth book by Ashley Jade and I have fell in love with her work and so looking forward to reading the rest of her books. I am going to miss Lizzie and Brandon. I highly recommend this s Perfect ending I went through so many emotions reading this third and final book in the series. I highly recommend this series. Jun 09, Lofty rated it it was amazing. Brandon's in jail, matts in a coma life is getting better. When Matt wakes from his coma will Lizzie be able to get payback? From start to finish these books are any easy recommendation from me. Another amazing book by a fabulous author.

Emotional, heartfelt definite must read! May 26, Avery Adams rated it it was amazing. The twists and turns continue in this third and final installment. It keeps you on your toes until the very end. Pick up this series and Ashley's other ones , you won't regret it! May 17, Niki Roge rated it it was amazing. If you thought books 1 and 2 were an emotional roller coaster, hold onto your hats as you are about to nosedive into the extreme end of things!

Brandon has gotten out of jail and Matt has recovered from his coma. Things take a turn for the worse when Lizzie thinks she can break Matt's heart. A very dark and twisty read, full of "Is this really happening"! A fantastic ending to the series and two thumbs up to Ashley for bringing us along on this ride.

May 12, Antoinette rated it really liked it. I really did enjoy this series, but this book blew me away. As i said with book 2 these books were getting darker and this one was the darkest. These are amazing books and Ashley gave us a gritty, twisted story that I devoured. My emotions were all over the map with this one and I just loved it.

Ashley Jade sure knows how to highjack your heart, shredded Rio pieces, put it back together and make you enjoy it. This series had my tears the entire time. Great story, highly emotional and heartrenching. This is definitely your next 5 star read. Jan 09, Clare rated it it was amazing. I cried so much during this book. So graphic and brutal but at the same time what a great way to end the series! Such a talented fearless author to write about the issues in this book but being able to go into depth while not disappearing in the darkness of the book. Feb 19, J Love Lemon rated it it was amazing.

One of the best dark reads I've ever read! I read another series from this author and I loved it- it's amazing how she made all three books dark just in a different way.

I love it how she doesn't end up with thrid not-dark book if you go dark go dark 'til the end! Jun 10, Co rated it it was amazing Shelves: With poor Lizzie suffering the most. With help from her parents and bff she get's through it all. You need to read this whole series.

You will not be disappointed. Theses books live up to their titles. Nov 21, Marcy Posteraro rated it it was amazing. Oct 13, Katie Kearney rated it it was amazing. Just when you think she can't possibly make this story more twisted or better she does. I can't even express how much I absolutely loved this series. The book hangover will be massive for sure! Jun 02, Christa rated it it was amazing.

Omg One of the best series I've ever read. I would rate this 10 stars if I could. Sep 10, Lisa rated it it was amazing. Holy cow I don't even know what to say. I was scared shirtless, horrified, sad and happy all in one book. What an amazing read. Nov 11, Kit Vogler rated it it was amazing. Feb 24, booklover rated it it was ok.

It was an OK read but for me personally I think it could've been shorter and a few things which happened seemed too unrealistic. Jun 07, Noel rated it it was amazing. So lets just jump right in with 3 years later. I mean if you read the prologue from book 2 you know some craziness went down.

But getting into this book, I would have never guessed. Liz has hardened, but i mean what was left for her to do? I'm happy that her and Zoe are still friends and such. I love that Zoe is sending notes to Brandon and helping him in ways. Yet is still fully there and supportive of Lizzie. My favorite part of book 3 is the duel POV's that it has changed to so we now get into the guys heads and see whats really going on, what they are really going through, feeling, etc. So, I hurt so bad for Brandon in some ways then I have to remind myself that NO he doesn't deserve that.

He lied to her, he did his own minipupating in ways, he had Matt do that to her. He had a part in making Matt what he was, obviously not fully, but he also had a part in Lizzie and how she is Matt though, its so crazy how different he is and how he comes off. Then the twist hits and holy crow, seriously did that happen, is this happening. Then, the whole book really picks up. And trust me so any times I was in tears. You at some point swooned ad wanted to believe he could be "better" just for him to get worse. The next twist and turn of the book, is so epic. I cheered for Brandon, then I cried for him and for her.

I can not even imagine retreating into myself that far that everything is warped. This book, has all the pain, all the emotions, just everything. It hurts so much, but its so riviting you can not help but get to the next page.. Dec 29, Michelle Brown rated it it was amazing. I don't know whether I want to hide under my blanket or live in Ashley's mind more. Okay I take that back, her mind has to be the scariest place I could imagine.

I am in love with Brandon based on this book alone. He really became a man. And Matt well I don't like him at all anymore. Nope, no redeemable qualities to be found in that spawn of Satan. This book was the perfect ending to the series though.

See a Problem?

I just hate that Lizzie had to go through so much to get to where she ended up. I do love the fa I don't know whether I want to hide under my blanket or live in Ashley's mind more. I do love the fact that Ashley doesn't write her female characters as weak or meek though. Gotta say Lizzie was one of the strongest females I've read about in awhile and I think that made me love this series even more.

Do yourself a favor and read this series if you haven't. Dec 27, Vickie rated it it was amazing. I don't think I've ever done a complete turn around like I have with the characters from this series. I hated Brandon for the first two and a half books. He was such a wet blanket, I needed him to grow a set and man up. I was always Team Matt, poor misunderstood, troubled Matt.

But somehow Ashley Jade made me switch teams halfway through this book and to say it was unexpected is an understatement. I loved this book. I felt every single emotion reading this series. I've loved, hated, cried and go I don't think I've ever done a complete turn around like I have with the characters from this series. I've loved, hated, cried and got so angry I wanted to explode.

Lizzie and Matt made my heart break. I've never wanted to hug a character as much. Oct 26, Belinda Visser rated it it was amazing. Against the darkest shadows is book 3 in What happens in the dark series. Ashley Jade definitely has a way to capture her readers and connected to her books. This book was gut wrenching and heartbreaking. At times I had to put the book down because it was so intense and I needed to control my emotions but every time I put it down all I could think about was I wanted continue reading, I needed to know what was going to happen.

I was heart broken and cried so many times for Lizzie in what she WOW! I was heart broken and cried so many times for Lizzie in what she was going through. Can Brandon heal and save Lizzie in time? Is Brandon able to give her happy ending she deserves? Only one way to find out is to pick in the book and start reading.

I highly recommend reading this book but be sure to read book 1 and 2 of what happens in the dark series. Someone had grabbed her from behind and dragged her towards the Forbidden Forest. If she remembered correctly, they had pulled her under an invisibility cloak so that no one would see them. She had kicked and screamed but she was soon shut up with a sharp blow to the head.

She passed out a few moments after the blow. What they had done to her afterwards, she didn't know. The pain she had experienced wasn't from that knock to the head. You know, torture can be a great source of entertainment, as proved before. You are quite adorable when you scream.

She felt ill at the thought of what they had done to her while she had been knocked out. Or had she been knocked out? Was what they did to her so bad that her mind had automatically blocked it out? Lucius stood up and in one stride he was at Hermione's chair.

He placed one hand on each arm of her chair and moved his face dangerously close to hers. This is where you will be staying for a while. Hermione's question was soon answered when Lucius sharply grabbed her wrist and dragged her off the chair. She quickly managed to get to her feet as he pulled her towards the door by the fireplace. The door led out to a long dark hallway that was lined with large oak doors, paintings of dark and sinister wizards, all leering at her, and a few candles floating here and there.

After a few minutes of walking down, what seemed to be, the never ending corridor, they came to an abrupt halt in front of one of the many doors. Lucius pulled out his wand and tapped the door three times with it. The door swung open to reveal a large, extravagant bedroom. Hermione gasped at the sight; she had been expecting to see dungeons.

Lucius pulled her into the room and flung her forward. She tripped from the force and felt a dull crack in her arm as she landed. Hermione whimpered as her left arm erupted in pain. She sat up and clutched her arm. Feel free to make all the attempts to escape that you want, but you won't get anywhere. For a tiny moment, she thought she saw guilt flicker across his face, but it was gone as quick as it came. He knelt down in front of her so quickly, that Hermione flinched in fear.

Surely you would like that arm fixed? Had she heard correctly? He moved forward to take her arm but she clutched harder on to it. She reluctantly placed her arm in his hand. She was amazed at how gentle his touch was. With a point of his wand, it was healed. He gently moved her arm around to check his handiwork. Smiling, he let go of her arm and stood up. On that last note, he spun round with his long, black cape whirling round after him. The door swung shut after him, leaving Hermione alone. Hermione stood up and looked around, taking in her new surroundings. The bed had a canopy with velvety green drapes hanging off it.

The bed itself was covered with black silk blankets with trimmings of silver.

The wall opposite the door she had come through had two tall, slim windows with green curtains hanging on either side. Hermione went to shut the curtains. She wasn't in the mood to see the nice weather. The second she closed them a couple of dozen lit black candles popped into the room and hovered by the ceiling. Against the wall opposite the bed was an enormous mahogany desk. It had a wide variety of quills and parchment on it. It was an extravagant room and Hermione couldn't understand why she was in it. Shouldn't she be in the dungeons, being tortured until Voldemort arrived?

Hermione climbed on to the bed and kicked off her shoes. She may as well make herself at home because she wasn't going anywhere. Meanwhile, Lucius was in his study, sitting at his desk. Why had he shown compassion to a filthy mudblood? Usually he would have left her to suffer with her broken arm for a day or two, maybe even a week. He couldn't bear to do it this time. Something in her eyes jolted him and for the first time in years, he felt his heart flutter. Narcissa had never been able to do that to him.
