I found it to be an interesting read. I wouldn't go judging the novel's historical accuracy, but it reads well and tries to delve into the personal lives of the dictators.

A lot of the information seemed to be speculative, however, as far as a non-fiction novel goes it was entertaining and informative. The accounts are short so it makes the book easy to read, as though I was reading short stories. For a book on dictators and a very touchy subject, the personal lives of the dictators are a lot mo I found it to be an interesting read. For a book on dictators and a very touchy subject, the personal lives of the dictators are a lot more open to speculation as opposed to their crimes committed in power which is often still very taboo, therefore difficult to write on.
It covers fairly recent events and leaders which is often hard to get information on. The author should be given credit for this book. I read it over a couple of weeks and it kept my interest.

It's not great that the the whole thing seems like it might be lifted straight from wikipedia. It feels like there is a lack of authority throughout. A good anchor point to get some ground facts but not a lot of depth or insight. Aug 16, Laura rated it it was ok. It started off very interesting and it went downhill from there.
A very similar pattern of life could be established among the tyrants, or at least that's the way how it's portrayed in this book.
