What an adorable read this was! I loved the illustrations although I must admit that possum looked more like a rat. The storyline was wonderful too.

As an adult, this book took me along for the ride. I do have to admit that this will be one going on the list for future grandkids! Possum wants to have a final autumn fling so invites his nocturnal friends the mice, the crickets, a raccoon, the frogs, and the fireflies. Every one is too busy getting ready for the cold weather ahead. But the great harvest moon beckons and at last they all join him. I, as an adult, love this book. I think the story is soothing and pleasant along with the delicate illustrations. My little man has requested we read this countless times since we received it. And I don't mind - this is an absolutely wonderful book! It is a beautiful story, with ethereal illustrations, a harvest dream.
Capabilities
Nature and beauty, the moon, and a grand party. What more could a preschooler ask for? I chose this book to share with my preschool class for "Nocturnal Animals" week. The story was cute and the pictures were beautiful.

My class of two year olds enjoyed it even though it was a little longer than the books that we usually read toghether. I love opossums and am happy to see a children's book giving them some positive attention! A great seasonal story about the change from fall to winter. Illustrations are simple and inviting.
