But, during all this time, nothing has excited me as much as our current endeavor on Green Supply Chains. It is the need of the moment, resonating in all directions. What is more important, it makes perfect commercial sense. This book by Vivek Sood and Stuart Emmett is a big step in furthering that discussion.
It should be on the bookshelf of every progressive manager. As supply chains have become more visible to people around the world, and at the same time more global, questions about their impact on the environment and global sustainability have increased. People who care about our Planet often wonder what are the adverse impacts of transporting goods thousands of miles So, companies and governments worldwide have begun to address the questions. The authors have addressed the questions in an insightful manner.
They have analyzed the supply chain processes, presented new ideas, and have backed these up with solid case examples from leading companies. The book is a must read for anyone who manages a supply chain, cares about the environment, and seeks actionable ideas for 'going green'.

Please try again later. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. My book arrived quickly and was exactly as advertised. This is a good book and It was what I wanted. I came on time and I could used for a reading. That is the reason despite all their good intentions very rarely we see real action towards "green".
This book looks at the full picture and puts the responsibility for taking environmental action where it belongs - on the entire supply chain. More precisely the key owner or in their words influencer of the supply chain is responsible for making sure that the entire supply chain gradually moves towards more pro-active environmental action - reducing carbon emissions, effluents and solid waste. The methodology espoused in this book is a breakthrough in strategic thinking and there are numerous case studies and new models for the readers to follow this call to action. I particularly liked the comprehensive green supply chain framework created by the authors which makes sure that the entire supply chain from planning, to logistics to procurement and marketing is appropriately covered by the environmental action program.
The customised approach to performance measurement and reporting as professed by this book is another great plus. Cookie cutter approach to a balanced score card rarely becomes or remains meaningful for any organisation. The meaningful and customised approach defined in this book will keep the program on track.
This book, one of the masterpieces in the green movement, is unique in its wholisitc perspective, deep subject matter exertise and action orientation. However, it lacks a few more case studies of end-to-end green supply chain management. See all 4 reviews.
