Here's why I'm reading this book once a year: You can simply go through a chapter and make a list of things to do that will help you. Self promotion, done right and done as Joel prescribes, is really more about communication.

And it involves promoting others. And it involves making your boss look good.

Getting ahead is about you being good to yourself. I'm not a self-promoter, but I am a hard worker. This book taught me how to advocate for myself when nobody else was there to do it.
