Then in the day, take a day trip to Assilah, you can go there easily from the train station in the city center, it takes less then one hour to get to Assilah and all the trains pass through Assilah, so take any train the price is 16DH per person or you can do it by the bus which is cheaper 6dh but the station is in place called " castilla ", i advise you to take the train! Assilah is really amazing but small and one day trip there is enough to enjoy it so i don't think you should spend a night there so get back to Tangier!
You can spend an other night at Tangier or go to Tetouan , to get to Tetouan, you have two options by Bus or Grand Taxi Shared taxi with 6 seats , the best choice but is to go by CTM bus, CTM buses have an other private station not the normal bus station, so when you take a taxi tell them to take you to CTM station never get small taxi that doesn't use meter, it's not only about money but i don't like cheat so try always to ask them to use the meter because they usually don't with tourists!
I don't know if you visited Chefchaouen before or no, i love it too but one night is enough there as it's small but don't miss going to Akchour to see mountains and waterfalls, Akchour is 35KM away from Chefchaouen, you can go there by grand taxi, hiking in Akchour mountais is really safe and nothing to worry about and you can always find locals guide if you want one, also you can take meal in the top of mountain!

You can go by CTM bus or Supratours buses, both are good, it's about 5 hours distance or less! From Fez or Mekness, it's up to you, you can go to Nador directly then to Mellila or you can visit Oujda then Nador, you have choices to choose between train and buses, it's up to you!
