I was touched by the stories of the many dogs rescued over the years thanks to the efforts and commitment by these dedicated volunteers who drive a leg of a journey each weekend in this country to rescue dogs who would otherwise be killed. Deborah Eades is one of these incredible volunteers, and the proceeds from her delightful book go to animal shelters and rescue groups. The author's wish is that many of us who read her stories of hope will volunteer with a dog transport group in our area to save even more lives.

This book is so uplifting in that it shows what one person can do to make a huge difference--the difference between life and death--for a dog. This beautiful book is about second chances for animals that need people like those on The Dog Rescue Railroad--and like you and me--to give the gift of life simply by say "yes" to a 50 to mile drive. According to Deborah, "the fulfillment you get from helping these pitiful animals is priceless, and it is so easy to do.

A Story of Love. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I am currently living with my 3rd rescue dog all are English Springer Spaniels so I found this book to be somewhat special. Rescue dogs are wonderful animals and it is amazing to see the transformation in them over the months they live with you.

Deborah's account of her rescue experiences was incredibly inspiring to me. I've always wanted to be an integral part of dog rescue, but feared the "front lines" of working in a shelter i. Her stories encouraged me to get involved in transporting from shelters to various rescues and within a day I was making a difference.

Not only did her book make me laugh and cry, but it prepared me for any circumstance I might encounter "on the road". This book is for any animal lover, anyone interested in giving a few hours of their time to help save a dog, and for anyone with a heart for those that can't help themselves. This week I'll be doing two transports, and can't wait.
