We read this before our boys went to their own camp. It was a fun adventure and a little lesson on what not to do sometimes no playing tippy canoe. We enjoy Tacky's stories. Tacky is out and about on yet another fun adventure. If you love Tacky's antics your will enjoy his camping trip.

My niece is a teacher in Arkansas. Her 1st grade class is sorely lacking in enjoyable books for afternoon reading.

I purchased every 'Tacky' title available on Amazon and sent them down to her. The 1st graders love Tacky and his crazy adventures; he's always faced w a perplexing problem, but seems to make the right sometimes tough choice to solve it. Good lessons for children! It is in a cute series featuring the same clumsy a-little-outside-the-club penguin who finds a way to make himself useful in the midst of his bumblings.

If your kids like seeing the same character in a variety of situations, start their Tacky collection and add this book to their library. Great books for primary students! Not to ruin the book, but the s'more monster is SO Tacky. We made great connections to our own camping experiences. Another great book by Helen Lester and Lynn Munsinger. The illustrations in this book were good, but maybe could have been a little more colorful and clear.

  • Overall the story line was fun, but the pages were a little crammed, because they staked pictures on top of one another. It had a lot going on so would be for probably second or third grade. I would definitely recommend these series of books to teachers and their classrooms. I think children would love them! After everyone goes to bed something happens. I love how Tacky saves the day again. After everything goes astray, mostly because of Tacky, he somehow, in his Tacky way fixes the problem.

Not sure if this would work in preschool--how many of them have camping experiences that they can relate to? It may be hard for them to see the humor as to how Tacky does things Then gain, perhaps not. I'd have to see. But it would work in a lap-read where some things could be explained or a read-alone.
