The first in Bergman's "Silent God" trilogy a subject matter that I find very intriguing.

Though I found this film to be just as much about the intricacies of personal relationships as it was the intricacies of religion. Each time life breaks the circle, the games turn gray and ridiculous. Then we draw a new circle and build a new defense. Bergman's eye is impeccable. I found it interesting that while time is implied throughout the film morning, night, etc. Never fully light and never completely dark. Perhaps a subtle reference to their relationships with both God and eachother? The acting is stellar.

Harriet Anderson in particular does an amazing job at drifting seemlessly between: A performance that is ultimately heartbreaking. It is definately a thinking persons film, so if you are somoene who likes to have everything spelled out nicely for you along the way and tied in a pretty bow at the end - skip it. If however you enjoy a film that stays with you for days - thinking about and discussing all of it's intricacies More Top Movies Trailers Forums.

WordPress is really easy, I highly recommend it as a blogging platform! I have a weird feeling that there is not much love in your heart for anyone but God, no offence, just a feeling after reading it, especially connected with this particular passage talking about love we should have for others, absolute love, not condemnation. You are so right! Practically every moment of every day I am face to face with the fact that I fall so short of the perfect love described in this passage that is only perfectly lived out in the life of Jesus.

I did not have the least bit of love in me. The Bible on my lap was opened by the finger of God to Psalm Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! I was face to face with a perfect God who perfectly loved me, and was showing me that I fell short of this perfect standard of love. I did open the door of my heart, and I was captivated by the beauty of the One who shone there in all His glory.

I was forgiven for my rebellion against Him, and felt the burden of my sins lift away. I was filled at that moment with His Spirit, so pure and clean, that when I tried to smoke a cigarette later I could not, because it felt like it clouded the purity I could palpably sense.

I was truly a new creature. Patrick, how about you? Thank you, heartfelt, beautiful, I sang with him as he wanted us to,so much love and tenderness. Your comments on the KJV quote well done, we lost a dear soul. Thank you, Claudia, what an encouragement your comment was to me.

Ingmar Bergman

And yes we lost a treasure to the church when Roby Duke died. I thank God for that recording.

Through A Glass, Darkly - Through A Glass, Darkly [Full Album]

The film depicts how Karin's grip on reality slowly slips away and how the bonds between the family members are changing in light of this fact. The first part of a 'religious' trilogy of films released from , Through the Glass Darkly may be the most accomplished of the three, and has the literary qualities of some of the best authors while still sticking to a character-driven story about mental drought and bewilderment. All four members bring out the heart of Bergman's message, with Andersson playing Karin in true sincerity and passion for the plague of her mind that has brought a cloud over her and her father, husband and younger brother a woman with three generations of men.

Some might digest the speculation on the inter-relationship of god and love with insanity, yet it is undeniably a masterwork by a artist filmmaker. Enjoy a night in with these popular movies available to stream now with Prime Video. Start your free trial.
