Some recent student feedback on my courses: She limits the courses to 5 students so book early as they fill up fast which means you get a lot of direct teaching support.

Jinks is not only a highly skilled jeweller but she also is very experienced at teaching. Her studio is in a truly idyllic setting and you get access to all the tools and materials you need. She also throws in a delicious light lunch each day. I am making some beautiful new collections in preparation for the Fair, so check back as I will keep my website updated with some preview photos. Book tickets in advance to take advantage of the Early Bird discount. I am doing my best to keep my lovely new workbench organised as I make a number of private commissions and also new pieces, utilising star sapphires, emeralds and morganites, for a couple of exciting exhibitions later in the year.

For more info please see here. This place blows for two reasons: I asked for two small letters on my arm. Okay, so some shops are more expensive than others, I'll give them that; however, there are no excuses for the unequivocally abhorrent, atrocious, and vile front staff experience. Got my nose pierced yesterday and was able to get in and out in no time. Didn't feel overcharged at all and felt like I was in good hands.

Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to get a piercing. I highly recommend going here. Karl pierced my tragus and she made it so quick and easy. They're a bit strict in their lobby, not really a big deal but just a warning before heading there. Overall, experience and pricing were good. Came in on a Saturday evening to get my third tattoo, with this one being the largest piece thus far. I had an idea, but had to describe it to the artist along with a rough template that I brought in with me.

Kevin drew me out a sketch that was even better than what I imagined. Within an hour, I had a wonderful piece of art. Overall, a pleasant experience. Thanks Kevin and thanks Jinx Proof! I got stopped this morning and complimented on one of my back tattoos, a Celtic knot design one of five done a few years ago by Eric Doyle. I absolutely love it, as did two complete strangers on the train. Eric always takes the time to get designs done beautifully, placed exactly, and executed quickly and perfectly.

I've been going to Jinx Proof off and on since I've had some awesome experiences as well as some pretty crappy ones. So long as you're working with a good artist you're set. It's getting to that point now that's the problem. They've gone way downhill over the years and I think I've decided I'm not going back. Rude front of shop staff, overall tattoo snob attitude that's gotten worse over the years, and poor communication.

I've had a few piercings done here and have always been impressed with Karl. Nothing like what I describe under the cons portion of this review. Having gotten my first tattoo and piercings here way back when I was 18 I will always appreciate how firm they are with their policies. There's a professionalism and respect that comes with that. My work still looks great. Meanwhile, my friends who got tats and piercings in basements back in the day So long as you can make it through the front desk snobs Jinx is worth it if you're a teen eagerly awaiting your first tat.

Unfortunately, and this has been true since , they've always had a terrible time with their front shop coverage.

Over the years my artists have moved, as is often the case. Instead of making a trip to the west coast I have returned to Jinx thinking ok I'm sure they'll have someone equally as awesome. Nope, not so much. First you have to make it through the front desk person which honestly feels like a job interview at times. If you don't have full sleeves or a tattoo on your neck they will judge you. They will be condescending. Again, this has been my experience since I've been to quite a few shops in my day and it's the only shop that seems to emit this holier than thou vibe.

I might not look like I have tattoos but I do. They need to get rid of the attitude. In the last few years they've been terrible at consults. If you want a consult for a piece go on their website and email the artist s directly. I have gone there looking for a consult usually on a weekend and am told email us with what you're interested in and we'll set you up with someone who specializes in what you want.

This all boils down to front desk goofball yet again.

SHOP SMARTER ON SHOPSWELL!

And I've wanted traditional Sailor Jerry type pieces. Which I know they can do! It's like a slap in the face to returning customers. And that just about sums it up! Did a walk in on a Saturday. Tim banged out a binary tattoo in about an hour. Not an easy piece. If you're looking for precision, Tim is your guy. Tad is the only artist I've used but everyone here is great! I'm a wuss and he always makes sure to talk to me to keep my mind off that irritating and annoying buzzing sound the tattoo needle makes!!

In addition to that, he's great at his craft and I'm a repeat customer. Take my word for it! It's the best the DMV area has to offer. This place is legit! I got some work done by Liana and she was fantastic. After meeting with her and showing her some samples, she worked up an artistic design that incorporated everything that was important to me while taking a unique approach. The work itself took over 3 hours and Liana was professional and thorough. She barely took a break the entire time. What a great experience.

I can't wait to go back to see her and get some more work. First-time getting a tattoo. I walked in with a friend who was getting a piercing and decided to get a small finger tattoo- A wave that went all the way around my finger. It took about 15 minutes and there was next to no pain. I was tatted by Tony Morrell.

I'm not totally sure what happened because I laid down, closed my eyes, and tried to relax for the tattooing. When I sat up after he was done, I noticed one of the lines on the inside of my finger was a little more crooked than I would've liked and awkwardly dips into the webbing between my fingers, but it was done so there wasn't much I could do about that. He had also somehow nicked another finger with his gun, and told me he had to basically drill it out with a clean needle, soap and water.

It was right on a knuckle, so it was pretty painful. I don't usually mind needles, but the needle consistently going into the same open cut on my knuckle wasn't a great feeling. When he was done he asked me to "pick at the scab" as it tried to heal. My skin tends to scar as a keloid, so I was nervous about picking, but I didn't want a weird line on my knuckle either. It's been about 8 months and I still have a faint line on my knuckle. The actual tattoo is holding up fine. It was my first time, so I wasn't sure if these were typical or common mistakes.

I was getting horrified looks when I told this story to my tattooed peers. I sat with Tad for my first professional tattoo tonight.

Exhibitions

I got a tattoo which will serve as a medical notice as well as a reminder of my diabetes and how important it is for me to take care of myself. This was a huge step for me. Tad helped me perfect the design for the tattoo and helped me understand what the experience would be like. They worked with me on the price and helped me understand what the aftercare regimen would be like. I wasn't surprised by anything and the whole experience was comfortable and positive. I walked away from my visit having had a wonderful conversation, an amazing tattoo, and a very positive life experience.

Tony did an awesome job on both my white tattoos! Excellent service and staff, very clean. This place was not chill. First the staff I talked to were rude and sassy. And they didn't go through after. And THEN my piercing wouldn't stop bleeding. I dont know what the hell she did but I did not like it there.
