It really does take several chapters to get into the flow of the tale due to the style of narration and the male protagonist, Tommy, a young man who could be classed in a rather unfeeling way, as being a 'loser'. However, by sticking with the tale, one discovers just why Tommy has such a strange and sad life.

The tale is written in a very British style and there are many British references and language quirks that it could be a confusing for readers in North America to initially follow the dialogue. The language and writing style actually add to the story in my opinion. Tommy's budding relationship was a different matter altogether.

I thought the mentioning of Brodie's small talents would translate to something BIG within the story but it doesn't. Brodie is the guy in a horror movies that you scream "Don't go in there" to knowing they are going to go anyway. Jacob comes around a little towards the end but not enough and just a little late. He spends more time trying to escape his past through drugs and sex that he can't pay attention to the present danger out to get him. I did enjoy the horror in this story and the sex was pretty hot but I wasn't happy with the ending.

But because my curiosity usually gets the best of me when the second book comes out I will get it because I have to know! Oct 03, R rated it really liked it Shelves: Although the first couple of chapters did not grab me, it was not long before I could not put the story down. I eagerly read each new chapter to see how the story would unfold.

I must stress that this book is not for the faint of heart due to portions that are absolutely gruesome! I enjoyed the unfolding character development, and the relationship between Brodie and Jacob.

Jacob was a jerk, understandably once you learn more of this background, and Brodie was absolutely adorable. I was excited about this book when I read the summery of the book. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The story between the main characters made me want to cringe every time they were together. I think it could have ended better. Some parts where every exciting and other parts seemed to drag on. It's an okay read, but not one I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review via Lovers of Paranormal R2R.

It's an okay read, but not one I would re-read. Mar 21, Jackie rated it really liked it. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Hermit and Nevi Star is a fast paced story with lots of supernatural elements and interesting characters, both main and side.

All the characters are in your face interesting, and in most cases very flawed personalities. The main, your true anti-hero, is a self-professed jerk, selfish and cruel in a self-absorbed kinda way; but at the same time you see hints of the man I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. The main, your true anti-hero, is a self-professed jerk, selfish and cruel in a self-absorbed kinda way; but at the same time you see hints of the man he could have been, should tragedy in his past not have changed his path.

The second main is a sweet, innocent puppy, who keeps having eye-opening experiences of the not very nice supernatural elements. The side characters steal your attention away frequently as they stand out and grab your attention in their scene stealing way. The action slowly ramps up until it is grabs you in a nail biting way, and wont let you go. All in all an entertaining read. I was pleasantly surprised by this book, when I first read the blurb I thought it sounded very interesting. This book wasn't what I had expected, I thought I was in for a normal run of the mill ghost story, boy was I wrong.

This is what I love to see in my ghost stories!! Gruesome detailed bliss, I was in heaven throughout the entire story, I loved the fact that the author went there at times and did so with such vivid detail!! Most authors don't do shock worthy writing but Dani R. R Hermit does I was pleasantly surprised by this book, when I first read the blurb I thought it sounded very interesting. R Hermit does it well!! The character development was amazing and I loved the relationship between Brodie And Jacob!! This is a must read but not for the squeamish.

Apr 28, Nicole rated it liked it Shelves: I like the world that was created and the mystery of the story, but I can't say I enjoyed much else. It was a little dull, in fact, and Brodie was a horribly whiny character. Jacob was a complete asshole who cared more about getting his rocks off then making sure his partner was going to be okay.

And then he basically rapes his partner when he gets back, still high as a kite. Things happened that I just did not enjoy. I would, however, still read the next book. I guess I kind of got sucked into I like the world that was created and the mystery of the story, but I can't say I enjoyed much else.

Ghost House – Soul Mate Book 1 by Richard Crawford

I guess I kind of got sucked into the story. I have to say, I am super glad my eye quick is no longer severe. If it had been I probably would have had my head in the toilet. As it was, I just gagged a bit. Sep 20, Christina rated it really liked it. I received this book in exchange for an honest review Lovers of Paranormal Group on Goodreads. Hermit is genius to capture all this into one engaging story. The story was very well written and descriptive, which added to the gore factor.

I loved the depth of the characters, which added to Jacobs darkness. At first I thought the story would be about Jacob coming to terms with his internal demons. The end I received this book in exchange for an honest review Lovers of Paranormal Group on Goodreads.

The end was a complete shock! Mar 07, Nadine rated it it was ok. Book One Was given a free copy for an honest review. I first I like this book. Yes it started out hot. But I could not connect with the book. One of the first books I did not finish. However if you like paranormal murders, and MC that are hard to like then you might like this book. The author is a good writer, it was just not my cup of tea.

I got it as i thought it was a shifter book. This book had me hooked, not straight away but by chapter 2, i couldn't put it down. It seems to me that this isn't the first time he's been in custody. It starts slowly but picks up the pace quickly. Mickey, is Tommy's good frie OMG!! Mickey, is Tommy's good friend who is also homeless. I was glad there was no weak characters. At a point in the book, i do jump to the wrong conclusion.

I did think it was all to do with drugs. But its not, he doesn't take drugs, he doesn't want to drink but sometimes its beyond his control. Tommy does get himself into some close shaves but he can't stop it from happening. I hope Richard Crawford writes book 2, I want more, so much more, want to find out what happens to the gang!! Good storyline, spoiled only by being badly written.

I chose this book because it is free on Kindle and looked different to anything I normally read. Without giving any spoilers, it's about the supernatural. The whole story however does not quite make sense - the main character can be possessed by ghosts and refuses to tell anyone because no one will believe him, yet the city he lives in accepts the use of mediums. There is even an example where the police converse with mediums.

This lack of con Good storyline, spoiled only by being badly written. This lack of continuity makes the overall message of what the society believes difficult to digest. Characters are well developed and I am hoping that book 2 and 3 are also free on Kindle. If not I will be annoyed as the storyline is so gripping I have to know how it ends, and if he truely messes things up once and for all. Recommended if you are going to get it for free, yet with frequent unnecessary expletives and a lack of advanced sentences, I would not buy this book. Apr 11, Jennifer rated it really liked it.

The title of this book doesn't really give you any idea what it's about and the cover image, while creepy, is very 'cheap' feeling and made me wonder if the book was going to be poorly written yes really judging a book by its cover but it was a free download so I went for it anyway. Without giving the game away too much, it's very different from your standard ghost novel which made it feel fresh and kept it interesting throughout. While I liked and felt sorry for the main character, I didn't particularly develop any affection for him. I know this is first in a series of novels, but the book felt very unfinished - more like the end of a chapter rather than the end of a novel which is the main reason I've dropped it down a star. Nov 29, Lucinda rated it it was ok. I really don't like marking a book this low, but it really wasn't a book that I liked. It was okay, but not one I would read again or that I would keep. It kind of freaked me out. I did like several of the characters: Thomas Tommy the main character, except that he kept getting possessed by ghosts - nearly every day!

The girl he fell in love with, Suki. And his best friend on the streets, Mickey. But the posses I really don't like marking a book this low, but it really wasn't a book that I liked. But the possessions were involuntary and I just couldn't get through the book.

EXTREMELY SCARY HAUNTED HOUSE!

I have to say first this book started very slow in the beginning and kind of confusing, but as I read on it started to get interesting and finally I understood and liked it. Tommy a young man who can see ghost but also is possessed daily by them to finish there unfinished business. It comes to a climatic moment when he meets Suki and his whole world starts to make sense.

Facing his demons and holding on to the love that completes him maybe too much for him to bare. I thought the story was good n I have to say first this book started very slow in the beginning and kind of confusing, but as I read on it started to get interesting and finally I understood and liked it. I thought the story was good not great, but a good read. I give it 4 stars Loved the plot and story line of this book. It was written well.

The character Tommy was great. He goes through so much in this story and after so many bad things things might look up for him. I think that the next book will be real interesting to read and cant wait to read it. I could see everything play out before me as I read this book and that is one thing i like about books.

The sudden like of the character Suki seemed too abrupt and disjointed. Too many other books to read to justify dragging myself through this!! Would happily like someone to tell me why I should ensure any more. I was not so sure it was going to turn into anything that I was going to like. However as I got farther into it, I found it was a good story. Very compelling mystery with the haunting. I do not find a whole lot of books that I like that Ghosts are the mine part.

This was good though!! Yes, overall this story had a reasonable plot and character development. However, although I like stories that include mystery and ghosts, I felt it needed a more in-depth feel to it. To be fair, it could have been 'too modern' for me and yes, I liked it but I wanted more from it. Nevertheless, it is worth a look. This is the first self published book I've read and I loved it.

Interesting plot that a homeless man is being possessed by spirits and they are carrying out 'unfinished business. It was great read, better than some work I've read that has been produced through a publishing house. Looking forward to the sequel. I really enjoyed the story in this book. Tommy, the main character, is quite the anti-hero, but I couldn't stop reading about him. I was a bit annoyed by the grammatical and typographical mistakes in this book, but I was able to ignore them and press on.
